Sundial Chiropractic Clinic has a branch in Kemp Town. The clinic in St James's Street was opened by local MP Des Turner in April 2007. At the opening party Dr Turner said "I am delighted that a clinic of this standard is opening here - it's just what the area needs."

It is the first chiropractic clinic in Kemp Town and it may have arrived just in time as new consumer research reveals that nearly half of those in the South East (47%) are currently suffering from back pain, a figure which has risen dramatically in just the last three years.

Dr Richard Hollis, the clinic principal, said "We are fast becoming a nation of slouch potatoes and poor posture is one of the most common triggers of back pain, along with other normal day to day activities such as housework & DIY, sleeping and using a computer for long periods."

It is no surprise that back pain is on the rise, Over a third (39%) of those in the South East have been told they have a bad posture but yet only a staggering 15% of them are actually trying to do something about it.

To help address this problem Sundial is taking part in a nationwide programme to get everyone exercising. It is called Straighten Up UK and is aimed at adults and children alike. A simple 3 minute series of exercise will improve posture, strength and flexibility.

Richard added "Recent research shows that chiropractic treatment is effective in helping back pain and especially with an appropriate exercise programme. This is something at the Sundial Chiropractic Clinics we have found works best too".

The opening party was attended by local traders and residents. Staff of both Sundial clinics came along too for a glass of champagne. Des Turner was presented with a model spine and commented "Politicians get a bit worried when they are given a back bone"

The recently refurbished Kemp Town clinic also offers Pilates classes, personal training and massage to speed up recovery and compliment chiropractic treatment.
